Better than last

Happy New Year!
I finally got my A race schedule.
*Troika Olympic Aquabike Spokane May 20th.
*Aquabike Toughman at Ocean Shores June 3rd.

Lake Padden Triathlon at the end of June is a maybe.
Women of Wonder Triathlon in August is a go if they end up having it. It's only a sprint so my foot should be fine.

My main training plan is set for 18 weeks leading up to Toughman Aquabike. 3 swims/4-5 bikes a week. This will be my first half Iron distance race with out the run portion. So hoping for a 2:45!

Starting over with my nutrition on January 15th. I have no idea why I picked this day. Maybe because its not January 1st like everyone else? Or maybe because I feel I need to ease into it and not do cold turkey. Oh boy!

I have also joined the new endurance team, Stoked Multisport. Will be fun to race with each other!
I also just joined with iracelikeagirl with Angela Neath, Pro triathlete, as a mentor. A women's only community I hope to be inspired.

God Bless!

Everyone hang in there and see you in 2017!!

Ready for a new year!

Merry Christmas! For some reason this time of year really feels nice. I don't remember when I felt this good around now. Life is not perfect but I feel I'm dealing with them better. Keeping my faith is Jesus has been the bigger part of it. Relying on Him and remembering that He is the reason for the season.

My training will start on the first of January. I have not nailed down my 2017 race plan but I'm getting close. Looking at several aquabike races.

On January 15, Whole 9 starts. I'm actually excited! I'll weigh in the first of every month of training and take photo each weigh in.

I can't wait to start feeling better. I have inflammation in my body and eating better will help immensely and help my body to calm down.   Going to miss those tamales.

Have a great day everyone. I'll try to call as many family as I can on Christmas. Love you all!

My year of turning 50

What!!??? I'm 50 years old in the morning? How did this happen? 50 is the new 30 you know.

Turning 50 has not been to hard for me. I have aged up in races. I am the "young one" in my age group which, you would think, gives me an edge in next year races. These girls are fast! I just want to be the best I can. Always improving even if the race time does not show it.

October 28th, 2016 marks the start of the last year of this first half of this century for me. I want to live till 100 year old. I want to be the one who tells of stories of interesting facts to those who were not even born during the 2013 Boston bombing. Of the first black president and possibly the first female president. I have things to do. Races to compete in. Sister Madonna and Henriette Anderson records to break.

I vow to try my hardest to write in my blog at least once a week till I turn 51. Wish me luck and God give me strength to get through this next year.

Change of plans

Well it's a bummer. No running for a while.

Ironman Canada at Whistler 2015

(Disclaimer: I'm writing this not only for others to read but for myself to document how the weekend and race went. This is hopefully so I can learn from my own experience for future events. Also, my long term memory is not so good. If I happen to give too much information (TMI) please excuse me and turn away)

I did it!!! I AM AN IRONMAN!! Who would have thought that little ole me who couldn't even swim 6 years ago would do an Ironman! I am so happy that my coaching and training got me doing this very scary (and long) event.
Lets break down the weekend and the race!

After weeks/months of planning and seven months of training the time finally came to leave for my first Ironman. We packed up the triathlon car (that's what my husband calls it) and off we go to Canada.

Our condo mates where fantastic! Could have asked for any better people to share this experience with. I had only one person that I knew at Whistler. Meghan and Doug were great!
