Week 3 Training

Week 3 Training

Yeah! Here we go with my blog! Thank you for your interest in my journey!  I would love comments, questions and suggestions. (and please forgive my grammar J) This first post will be longer just to get caught up. I hope to look back at my writing years later and think, “Wow! I had fun!” Maybe I can inspire someone else along the way too.

Swim: Time management seems to be a factor for me and getting to pool. I used to be able to swim in the morning before work but now I have to be at work by 6:30 Tuesday thru Thursday so the 5:30 am open time does not work. I’ve been swimming 2 x weeks so far. The swims have been great though. I am so glad that I kept up swimming some on my “off” season. I haven’t felt like a drowning cat lately at all. I swim mostly at Snohomish Aquatic Center. When I need to I can go to Lake Stevens High School pool or even to Everett Forest Park. The hot tub at SAC is great for stretching! An added bonus going there!

The equipment I use in the pool is only a pull buoy, ankle band and kick board. The band is supposed to help improving rhythm and timing. I have only used it with the buoy so far and will try it this next swim session with out. http://www.feelforthewater.com/2013/07/swimming-with-band-isnt-easy-but-great.html

I see people who use a snorkel. I haven’t jumped to that level yet. Not sure if it is for me.

Bike: Oh the great Pacific North West! So glad I have my rain bike. My Focus gets very dirty this time of year. I save my P3 Cervelo for my trainer seated right in front of the TV. Love Ellen! Still getting through her 12 days give away. Lol

Bike test at Blue Fire Endurance
I had been biking on Saturdays with Snohomish Bicycle Group Ride but the past two long rides needed to be on Sunday so I have missed the group. They are so fun and they take me to places that I would not have ridden, or even known about, without them. High Rock is on my list for hill training in the future. It’s a 4 mile climb! I’ve stuck to areas around Lake Stevens and Snohomish with going into the Everett flats. When it gets lighter earlier I will ride from my house on Sundays. I live just off the Lake Stevens 70.3 Ironman course in Granite Falls so it is very convenient. Nice hills to train for the hilly Whistler course.
Windy on new bike rack! Thanks babe!

BTW- My Focus bike is named Windy and my P3 is Persephone, the goddess of spring. 61 days till spring as of this writing. I long for less layers!
Persephone

Hoka One One!
Run: I’ve had left leg hamstring issues for a couple of years. Done PT on it and need more still. Trying to baby it and do my own rehab. I had started to do jump roping last fall to improve endurance and have developed plantar fasciitis because of it, more with my right foot than left. I changed my shoes and do lots of stretches. Oh that first morning step pain! I did buy my first pair of Hoka’s! I have been using them for a couple of weeks and still not sure about them. Trying to figure out the lace and how to work it.

Running buddy. Ruby is camera shy.
My week: Good mental week. My head feels like it’s on semi straight. I just need to get more organized.

Projects: She Matters campaign on the back burner for now. I spread myself to thin and getting it going slowly. But, I have a vision and a logo!!

Ironheart: Great group helping to raise funds for healthy heart awareness. More to come with information on how you can help me help them.

Thanks for reading!
